SIRE 2.0 and RISQ 3.2
readiness starts with human factors.

SeaCapt.ai helps tanker and bulk carrier crews prepare for SIRE 2.0 and RightShip RISQ by testing not just knowledge, but real-world demonstration under inspection conditions.

For Seafarers

Free readiness assessments — built for your inspection

Know exactly where you stand before the inspector boards. Rank-specific, aligned to how inspectors actually evaluate crew — not a textbook quiz.

Crew EQ Assessment

Psychometric tests miss
what matters at sea

Every seafarer passes a psychometric test during hiring. Yet crews still fail at teamwork, freeze under inspection pressure, and cannot challenge unsafe decisions. Standard tests measure personality in an interview room. SeaCapt measures how a seafarer actually performs under the conditions that exist on a ship.

PIF-aligned — Tests the crew behaviours that OCIMF inspectors assess through Performance Influencing Factors — not operational knowledge, but how people perform under observation
Reveals what other tests miss — Identifies gaps between how crew see themselves and how they actually perform under pressure
Predicts PIF weaknesses — Low EQ scores identify the human factor gaps that SIRE 2.0 and RISQ 3.2 inspectors are specifically trained to detect — giving DPAs actionable intelligence before the inspector boards
Take EQ Assessment
How it is different
Shipboard scenarios, not abstract questions
Real situations that happen on ships — not vague statements designed for an office environment.
Self-awareness analysis included
Compares how crew rate themselves against how they actually respond under pressure. The gap between the two is itself a finding.
Maps to the 9 PIFs in SIRE 2.0
Every dimension links to the human factors that cause negative SIRE 2.0 observations on tankers.

SIRE 2.0 Preparation

SIRE 2.0 Inspection Readiness

SIRE 2.0 replaced VIQ7 as OCIMF's sole tanker inspection framework — risk-based, digitised, and built around human factors. Every question has hardware, process, and human components, and every negative observation is tagged to one of 9 Performance Influencing Factors. OCIMF and the PIF framework are specific to SIRE 2.0 and tanker operations — RightShip RISQ uses its own classification system.

9 PIFs

Every human observation is classified by one of 9 Performance Influencing Factors defined by OCIMF.

📱 Tablet-Based

Inspectors use intrinsically safe tablets with real-time reporting, GPS tracking, and photo evidence.

🔀 Unpredictable by Design

Each inspection gets a unique questionnaire — crews cannot predict which questions will appear. SeaCapt prepares you for all of them.

👥 Human Ratings

Crew performance rated as Not as expected, Largely as expected, As expected, or Exceeds expectations.

How SeaCapt Prepares Your Vessel
01

PIQ & HVPQ Readiness

Complete review and preparation of your Pre-Inspection Questionnaire, vessel particulars, certificate repository, and photograph uploads — the pre-boarding elements that set the tone for the entire inspection.

02

Human Factors Coaching

Crew-level PIF assessment and coaching across all 9 Performance Influencing Factors. We prepare your officers and ratings to demonstrate competence — not just possess it.

03

Mock Inspection Drills

Realistic walkthrough of the SIRE 2.0 inspection process — opening meeting, physical inspection, crew interviews, and closing meeting. Build crew confidence by simulating what the inspector will actually do.

04

Work as Done vs Work as Imagined

Audit the gap between your SMS procedures and actual onboard practice. Where they diverge, we either update the procedure or retrain the crew — before the inspector finds the mismatch.

RightShip RISQ 3.2

RightShip Inspection Readiness

RISQ 3.2 takes effect February 2026. Tick-box answers won't survive anymore. Memorised procedures won't impress. The new regime probes context, understanding, and behaviour-based compliance — the same human factors approach SeaCapt was built for.

300+ Questions

16 chapters covering safety, environment, structural integrity, maintenance, and crew competency.

Hybrid Inspections

Documents submitted via DMC before boarding. Onboard time reduced from 14 to 11.5 hours on average.

Safety Score Impact

RISQ results feed directly into the RightShip Safety Score — influencing charter decisions and vessel marketability.

Age Trigger

By January 2027, all vessels 10 years and older fall under scope. Preparation starts now.

How SeaCapt Readies Your Crew for RISQ 3.2
01

RISQ Gap Analysis

Systematic review of all 16 RISQ chapters against your vessel's current condition, SMS, and crew competency. Identify gaps before the inspector does.

02

High-Risk Area Preparation

Focused drills on the top finding areas — enclosed space entry, lifesaving equipment, hatch covers, pilot ladders, and machinery space readiness.

03

Crew Competency Coaching

RISQ 3.2 probes operational familiarity, not paperwork. We prepare crew to demonstrate and explain — not just comply.

04

Hybrid Inspection Support

Document Management Centre preparation, pre-upload review, and onboard readiness coaching for the shortened physical inspection.

05

Safety Score Strategy

Understand what drives your RightShip Safety Score and build a systematic plan to improve it across your fleet.

Who We Are

Master Mariners building
for seafarers.

Our team has vast experience on tankers and bulk carriers and are Lead Auditor certified — ISM, ISPS, MLC. We have personally experienced the operational difficulties onboard and we are now building tools to solve them.

"The most dangerous gap in maritime safety is not in the regulations. It is in the space between what an officer knows and what they feel confident to say."
Why SeaCapt
  • Human factors and emotional intelligence as core infrastructure
  • Content and coaching by Master Mariners — not replicable from a desk
  • Tankers and dry bulk — deep domain experience, not diluted generalism
  • Maritime tech platform built for crew first and not management first
